Hi, I'm Sara Armstrong
Founder of Grateful Grief Community.
Â
This is my StoryÂ
I was born in Chicago, and joined the Peace Corps as a teacher, decided to live in Uganda, Africa.
After marrying a Ugandan , I was was launched on a journey through the terror of dictator Idi Amin Dada.
I had a unique insight into the destruction of a prosperous and thriving African nation. We narrowly escaped and returned to the United States from Africa, but loss my first husband to a tragic car accident, just 15 months after moving back.
I was now widowed and threw my energies into raising my two children, taking care of aging parents. I realize now, I never took the time to grieve the many losses in my life.Â
I found love again and remarried in 1992 and after 14 years of marriage was widowed again when my 2nd husband lost his battle with cancer in 2006.Â
Being widowed twice and loss of parents, friends, I finally realized that grief lives with you and you have to deal it and confront it. I continue to walk through my grief journey and healing process.Â
Death touches everyone, leaving us bruised and broken. You can survive loss and gain strength from sorrow. These are whispered words of truth and comfort from one who has walked through grief and mourning and found a way to fold the pain into my life and keep moving.
I created this space to share my knowledge and journey with others as we all forever grieve.đź’ś
